I thought that my new HP printer was set as the default printer for all programs when it was installed but when I clicked ‘print’ it was silent. Then I realized that it wasn’t set as default so I clicked on it in the print dropdown menu and it printed. Can you tell me how I can set my new printer as default so that it is selected each time I print?

Go to your ‘start menu’ or ‘Control Panel’ and click on ‘Printers.’ Right Click on your new HP printer model number and choose ‘Set as default’ from the drop down list. Now every time you wish to print a document your chosen printer will be selected. It is quite safe to delete the old printer from the list if it is no longer in use.
