Kings Point Computer Club learning Windows Vista v Windows XP

KINGS POINT COMPUTER CLUB - PRESIDENT'S REPORT

This was a very memorable meeting a seasons gem!  I feel all who attended will agree that the presentation by Ms. Pamela Tabak, Computer Tutor of B.R.C.S. is an articulate speaker, intimately knowledgeable in all aspects of computers, and an expert on VISTA, a generous host who readily shares her information.  Her lecture today featured VISTA.  Pamela went through all phases of Vista and compared it to XP.  She demonstrated how to apply any and all programs you use from XP to VISTA simply.

Ms. Tabak gave us web addresses which will give us a tutorial on today's program as well as a web address for more side bar options.  This offer is for K.P.C.C. members only.

Advice from Pamela; Always close down your computer at night, stating "this can keep you  safe from possible attacks!"

A new program called "Snipping Tool" was demonstrated this can crop out a portion of any picture for any reason and make it a centerpiece or use it for another purpose; a tutorial on this is also available to members. A print screen tutorial is also available; Windows Mail takes the place of Outlook Express... you can send a photo of something you are doing which has gone wrong to Pamela stating "this happened when I was doing?" and Pamela will help you get out of the problem with her answer; A must have! "this will make your computer last forever if you do it" Maintenance Computer Program" a freebee offered. A tutorial for XP is also available.

Pamela advises never to install a program without having prepared a restore point first!  Just in case something goes wrong.

Caution! Before removing an external small hard drive - be sure to close your computer or click on the “safely remove hardware” icon... this surge in power could  destroy your computer's hard drive.

"Spy Files can be more harmful than a virus." Pamela says, she likes Ad-Aware 2007 Plus stating "you can use more than one Spyware catcher but never use more than one virus catcher it will slow your computer and can cause a conflict.

Tutorial 2t8lifz (all lower case).  Pamela asks that we critique her talk by going to 3bzbsr accessed by going onto the kingspointcomputerclub.org web site.

If you missed this meeting you missed a great treat.  If you are interested, you can download the information you need but having Pamela demonstrate and answer our questions made for a priceless class.

I look forward to seeing you all.

Regards,

Jerry Frank - President - Kings Point Computer Club

DECEMBER 2007

Kings Point Computer Club learning about Buying and Selling on eBay

Today's meeting was very successful.  There were 70 people in attendance, 19 new members signed up.

Jerry Frank, President greeted everyone, wishing all Happy and Healthy Holidays.  Jerry listed the itinerary for today's meeting, I.e., elections of officials for the coming year; raise in our yearly dues; new web site in progress.  Jerry introduced Ms. Pamela Tabak, Computer Tutor of BRCS, our sister organization as our speaker for this meeting the subject, selling and buying on E-Bay.

Pamela states we can access our new web site by writing kingspointcomputerclub.org  She suggests you browse through the many options for learning and accessing information which are and will be available.  Members may ask questions and can expect a response within 24 hours.  This tool will open many avenues, we are advised to "bookmark" this address and have it handy to use in all searches.

In Pamela's Power Point program we saw and learned how to sign up for E-Bay, what protocols to use, how to highlight your items and go about getting a good "rating" as a buyer and as a seller of goods.  An extended Q and A followed in which Ms. Tabak answered questions from every point of computer knowledge.  This program is available to members.

Regards and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Jerry

Respectfully submitted,
