intrigued with Buying and Selling on eBay's Online Auction
IT TAKES A GOOD AUDIENCE
in addition to a good instructor to produce a good educational experience. That
is what happened on Tuesday evening, December 5. Over 80 club members listened
intently, asked searching questions and received clarifying answers from Pamela
Tabak, our Director of Education, as she toured the features of the Microsoft XP
operating system. It was a signature evening, not only for the success we can
claim for it and the hunger we saw for more knowledge about the basics, but that
it also served to launch the idea of organizing sessions solely for computer
beginners. ( More details about this as the program develops.)
WHAT FOLLOWED THE NEXT
WEEK was an
introduction to a fascinating feature in the world of computing. Once again,
82 members were made aware of the power of an on line auction. Buying and
selling on E-Bay has become a virtual industry. Everything from pocketbooks to
houses, cameras to boats, you name it, you can buy it! If we were in the dark,
Pamela has helped lead us to the daylight. From here on we should be able to
join the 21st century shopping miracle! Well, almost….

WHAT A GREAT WAY TO START THE NEW YEAR!
Eighty-five members and HR residents were in attendance at our first
meeting of the year. They saw a professional power point slide show
produced by our Director of Education, Pamela Tabak, that introduced our
officers and board of directors and described the twelve session
workshop program that has something for everyone.
After a drawing for
the winner of our membership sign-up program, we heard from that dynamic
President of the Boca Raton Computer Society, Bob Balogh. In his
own inimitable way, Bob presented a potpourri of protective
programs to make for safe computer use. This could have been one of those
topics that compares to watching the grass grow, but not with the flair
and stage presence that Bob has for lecturing. It was a fascinating
presentation and none of those present will ever click on an attachment
again without knowing where it came from!
Who could ask for anything more...well, we did...and this
is what we got...ten new members signatures, bringing our total
membership to 185. Hunters Run can be proud of their computer club.
We are bringing computer learning to our campus and having fun all the
while ...AND WHAT A GREAT WAY TO START THE NEW
YEAR!
OUR FIRST WORKSHOP
is scheduled for Tuesday, December 5. Pamela Tabak will
present Microsoft XP with all its bells and whistles...and they make
plenty of noise! This is a basic must for all users.
The snowbirds will be down and we look for a record
number of attendees. You know the place, the Men's Card room and the
time, 7:30 PM. Pamela spends a great deal of time preparing for these
sessions and you will be smarter and more informed when you leave than
when you arrived...and that's a promise!

Hunters Run Computer Club New President Joan Sobel,

On Tuesday
April 11th 2006 the new officers of the Hunters Run Computer Club were
announced. Joan Sobel, President, Two Vice Presidents Hal Levine and Herb Glanz
and Director of Education and Webmaster Pamela Tabak. Pamela will be in charge
of all speakers and topics and will also fulfill the role of Webmaster for the
HRCC website that she designed and maintains.

Troubleshooting
March 2006
Hunters Run Computer Club Members learning how to
"troubleshoot" their computers.
On March 7th 2006 Hunters Run Computer Club
members welcomed Pamela Tabak, Special Interest Group leader and Coordinator,
Boca Raton Computer Society. Pamela explained that by going though a simple
check list it was easy to ‘Troubleshoot’ your computer before calling a
technician. With the aid of a PowerPoint Presentation, Pamela showed pictures of
the computer parts that should be checked and demonstrated the procedures that
should be taken.
Pamela spent a few minutes telling the members about the benefits of joining
the Boca Raton Computer Society and with the use of the wireless
connection Pamela encouraged members to use the new Hunters Run Computer Club
website that she designed.
Pamela explained that she will
post a tutorial after each workshop on the
Hunters Run Computer Club Website so that the members will not need to take
notes during the meeting.
The evening ended with a question and answer
session on various subjects including hardware and software.

Microsoft WORD for Beginners
February 2006
On February 21st 2006 Hunters Run
Computer Club members welcomed Pamela Tabak, Special Interest Group leader and
Coordinator, Boca Raton Computer Society, who presented “Microsoft Word” for
beginners with the aid of a PowerPoint Presentation and a demonstration of the
features on a large screen.
Pamela spent the first few minutes telling the members about the benefits of
joining the Boca Raton Computer Society and with the use of the wireless
connection Pamela encouraged members to use the new Hunters Run Computer Club
website that she designed.
Pamela explained that she will
post a tutorial
on their new website after each

Tips and Tricks

Hunters Run Computer Club members came out in
full force when Pamela Tabak, Special Interest Group leader and Coordinator,
Boca Raton Computer Society, presented “Tips and Tricks” for all levels of
computer users.
Pamela spent the first few minutes telling the
members about the benefits of joining the Boca Raton Computer Society and
with the use of the wireless connection Pamela journeyed through the new Hunters
Run Computer Club website that she designed. Pamela explained that she will
post a tutorial
on their new website very soon after each workshop so that the
members will not need to take notes at the meeting.
