Saturday January 16th 2010 Re: Huntington Lakes

Dear Pamela,

Thank you for the wonderful presentation you gave at the HLAKES computer club. Working with seniors and others, they all fear the learning aspect would be too dificult.Your showing and samples of your book showed them that it was easier than learning to drive a car. Also, it is a must today to know as much as their grandchildren or to be aware of all the possiblities of useage, and the places and facts that were unknown prior to the computer age. Today it is a MUST to know this and you have been a great knowledgeable asset in this manner.

Thanks a million------Al Grutman

Monday January 11th 2010 Re: ASK PAMELA

You gave me a quick response to a question. It's very impressive, and I hope the site gets more recognition and therefore prosperity for you. It was a simple question, and ended up being a simple answer, but to everyday people like me-a site like yours is very valuable. I will highly recommend it should I ever come across someone with computer questions that I don't know!

Hi Pamela,
Your presentation was easy to understand and I liked the idea of not having to take notes. I printed out the part of your program that was new to me and which I will start to use. Good to meet you and know that you're available for us "seniors".

Monday February 23rd 2009   Re: REMOTE ASSISTANCE

Dear Pamela,
I am forever grateful for your remote assistance service. As you know, I was hesitant to try this service because of my limited computer knowledge but you convinced me to at least try it. I couldn't believe how patient you were in explaining it to me and how easy it was to use after my initial hesitation. I certainly would contact you again if I needed any help with my computer including the remote assistance.

II am so thrilled and grateful to Pamela. I recently bought a new computer and it is Vista. I had a question that I couldn't work out and so I wrote to Pamela and it felt as if that the question was barely asked that I got a response explaining to me, in ways that even I could understand, how to resolve my problem.

I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to feel that someone out there is concerned and willing to help..without a fee.

Thanks so much Pamela, keep up the great work.

The Hamlet is indeed fortunate to be able to take advantage of the expertise and talent of Pamela Tabak. She has garnered a devoted following of beginners, intermediate users and geek status at her bi-monthly classes and her online accessibility for daily computer help and troubleshooting.

Her tips are invaluable. One of the first lessons was to clear the desktop of unnecessary icons. The computer really does "boot up" much more quickly without all those programs running at startup. At our last session, she taught us how to wean away from the mouse and use the various “F” keys for more efficiency. Practice will make perfect.

Other advice really resonated with many in our group. She cautioned that “pulling the plug” or using the “on” button to shut down the PC was a real no-no and could cause havoc with the computer. If a computer has frozen, using Ctrl, Alt, Delete is the safest way to go.

We extend a collective thanks to this very pretty and competent leader and await the many other computer wonders she can help us to perform.

An excellent presentation. Pamela was well versed on the subject and spoke in a clear manner. She answered all questions and provided much information.

I was particularly impressed with the fact that she offered her services for free.

Pamela, I was unable to open a file that ended in xls and asked for your help in finding a way to open it. Thanks so much. I followed your instructions and just finished reading the file. I really appreciate your help because I thought that I never would be able to open it. Normally I would have just deleted it, but it was from my son, so I wanted to make an effort to open it. You were able to help me quickly and with easy instructions so I now know who to call on when I have a problem.

Pamela's presentation at the last meeting of the Huntington Lakes Computer Club was one of the most helpful of the year. It was clear and meaningful and I was actually able to come home and do all the maintenance on my computer that she recommended. Her knowledge is amazing, and her ability to share it even more so.

Dear Pamela,

You provide a wonderful service and make it available to many who otherwise wouldn't be able to pay for this level of help.

I'm grateful to you to bring your help, through your columns, to our members. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but our newsletter circulation includes editors of user groups across the country. You may be hearing from one or more of them, if you haven't already.

I know 2008 will be a great year for the many people who turn to you for  help.

Best wishes to you!

Many thanks for the clear and concise instructions for modifying Microsoft Word templates. I am pretty good at getting around in my PC, but this problem really had me stumped. I was sure that the menu change was buried deep in Word. Sometimes I think you need a college degree in Microsoft in order to figure out their techno-speak.

I am truly grateful for your immediate response with the detailed and easy to follow solution. After having spent hours with HP Help on and off line and trying to find the answer in a 700 page WORD ‘bible” to no avail, it was gratifying to hear from you. Problem solved!

Thanks again for the easy, step by step directions.

I want to thank you for all your help. It is refreshing to receive help from someone and not to be in limbo in that twilight zone between the hardware and software supports. To be able to post a problem on your site and have a response within hours and at a great price is astounding. Not to hear the response that one dreads to hear from their doctor, "I've never seen that before."

Something funny happened to me yesterday. It was such a rare occurrence I thought I'd tell you about it.

My computer ground to a halt. It was Saturday. Not a good day in computer service land.

I spoke to Pamela, from Computer Tutor Inc. First of all, she actually listened to me--- Go figure! Then she diagnosed the problem. Then she fixed the problem.

Using her technical skill and professionalism, she emailed me instructions for a permanent fix, stayed with me until the problem was solved, and saved me untold hours and days of grief and aggravation. She then gave advice for the future to keep it running and up to snuff, recommended free software to get the job done, and thanked me for contacting her. And all at a price I could afford. Nothing.

It was truly a pleasure dealing with Pamela. Her attention to detail, broad range of technical knowledge, dedication to treat her fellow seniors with respect and patience was just the beginning. Her intelligence and common sense and problem solving logic was so outstanding that after a few minutes, I realized that this was my lucky day. I also felt I had gained a friend.

In today's market of ho -hum service, it's a rare treat to find someone who still takes pride in their work.

Don't miss this opportunity to meet her and work with her to solve your computer problems. But keep it a secret. We don't want this kind of thing getting around!!!!

SUBJECT: Commendation and Thank you

Pamela,

You are an exceptionally knowledgeable computer professional. Your patience with my lack of depth and shallow underpinnings is really appreciated. Moreover, I found it quite noteworthy and unusual, that a person with your high levels of computer literacy, had the flexibility, adaptability and skills to communicate effectively with someone at my level.

I’d like to mention that my experience of the online “back and forth series format” computer assistance we used was both positive and effective. Your dedication in truly getting answers back in 24 hours (or less) was remarkable and a pleasant surprise.

Hopefully, in the near future, you will be willing to continue to help me to resolve  other computer problems.

As an aside, I attended one your SIG classes at the Boca Raton Computer Society.  Your presentation was well organized, energetic and understandable (even at my level). I feel you are an exceptional computer teacher-presenter and plan to attend future such programs.

Please feel free to share this letter of thanks and commendation with others and/or to use me as a reference.

Thanks again.

Sincerely and respectfully,

Warren Lloyd Holtzman
Boca Raton Computer Society Member, Florida

Dear Pamela,

I want to thank you for being webmaster this last year. I been a member of the club for about 8 years. Your presentations were way above anything we have ever had previous years. They were very helpful and I was able to do some things I was not able to previous do.

I have also used the tutorials to help me get thru a lot of problems I run in to and I sent my daughter in  AZ. your web address so she could  use them also.

I want to wish both you and your husband a healthy summer. Looking forward to seeing you in the fall.

Dear Pamela

Ruth and I joined your computer club at the Regency Highland this year attending 2 sessions. Myself, being relatively new and Ruth a neophyte, thought that the  structure and information presented by you, has motivated us to want to learn. We need alot of TLC and your manner made us feel very comfortable. We look forward to your return to South Florida to continue our sessions; in the meantime let's correspond. Your knowledge and expertise in computing is so broad and advanced it truly is a gift to be in your company. You are a true technologically savvy computerized professional.

Dear Pamela,

Thank you so much for your classes at Regency Highland.  Your presentations were so helpful--especially about proper maintenance, which other computer courses we've taken never touched on at all.  Our computer is now working better and we're enjoying it much more--not constantly frustrated.

We're very grateful for your 24/7 tech support by email.  Your answer arrived immediately.  It's reassuring that this  service will be available during the months you're away in Canada.

We think you're wonderful and can't thank you enough for sharing your great talent and knowledge with us.  We're looking forward to more of your computer classes here in the fall.

Hi Pamela; I wanted to add to Jerry Kahn's e-mail to you, he has been talking nonstop about how glad he was to have met you, and I too thank you because if I hand not introduced him to you he would not know what he was missing.

The club members and visitors to our last Club meeting, which you graciously gave your presentation to, have not stopped talking to me about how nice you presented the information and how well you answered their questions.

I for one want to wish you a very healthy and happy summer and when you return to us in the fall we would love to have you come again and talk to the Aberdeen East Computer Club at one of our monthly meetings.

Sincerely yours;

Dear Pamela:

The best thing to happen to me within the past few weeks was to join the Boca Computer Club, but most of all going to your special interest class. It was like eating candy, I couldn't get enough of the information on the topic, and you made it so easy to understand.

A few days later, if you remember, I sent you a few Questions to your e mail and thought I would get an answer a few days later. I could not believe the fast response -- maybe an hour or two later.

The next day I had another problem, and again a few hours later you sent me a free tutorial and it solved my problem. It is very satisfying to know that you are out there to help us with our computer problems. You do this willingly and unselfishly.

Thanks again,

Jerry Kahn - Aberdeen East Computer Club Member Florida, U.S.A.

Remarks made by Hal Levine at the last workshop taught by Pamela Tabak, March 28th, 2007.

As you look back through your lives, I am sure you can remember a suggestion or recommendation that you have made that caused much pride for its success. About a year ago, I recommended to our board that we appoint Pamela as our Director of Education. I could not have made a better one, for she has been invaluable to us and has raised the level of sophistication of our club. In addition to her expertise as a computer specialist, she is just a wonderful woman. We are all very sorry that she will not be with us next year, as she pursues the development of her clubs for seniors (pro bona) who do not have access to a computer club. We owe her our thanks and a rousing hand of applause for her work with us. Godspeed, Pamela and much success in your ventures.

Dear Pamela,

At BRCS we are fortunate to have a number of volunteer teachers, like yourself who are very competent and are willing to share. I make it a point of trying to attend every class you give because I enjoy the way you simplify a difficult subject.

You also follow it up with offering tutorials on almost every subject. I get the feeling you are going to publish a book in the near future. The test of whether a teacher knows their subject is when they can teach it as well as you do. Good luck!

Have a wonderful summer and we look forward to the fall when you return.

 Thank you.

Dear Pamela,

Thank you so much for all your help in getting me started on my new computer with Windows Vista. I don't know where I would be without you.

It's so reassuring to know that I can e mail you 24/7 and receive an answer the same day. Your knowledge and expertise in so many areas relating to computers is incredible; even something as new as Vista. Your monthly newsletters and tutorials are invaluable.

Next season I hope to take advantage of your SIG group with BRCS. Meanwhile, even when I'm in NY and you're in Canada, I know that you will be there if I need you.

Thank you so much for you time and patience.

Valued the important tips presented as to the efficient use of a computer's operating system, XP in this case. The presenter had unsurpassed energy when delivering her messages that also seemed entirely free from commercial taint. To top things off, it was not necessary to scramble to take notes, since Pam made printed lecture materials  available through her website.

Thanks again for the presentation.

Pamela:

I make my career in programming computers, and yet even I do not know all there is to know about how windows and other Microsoft programs work. I can’t tell you how glad I am that there is a source to turn to, and know I am going to get an answer in a day or so (if not sooner), not in a week or a year, as I have had from other sources.

I also am more apt to explore around windows XP now, knowing that if I do get into trouble, you know what to do to fix it!!

Thanks so much for making my life easier.

Pamela, we have to compliment you on your style of teaching and sharing your incredible computer knowledge.

Victor and I are both Realtors and have taken many computer courses since we were introduced to our first "dumb terminal" connected to the Toronto Real Estate Board (that's a few years ago!). We can't recall ever having enjoyed a course as much as we did yours;  you make everything so easy and yet exciting. We learned a lot; you are the best teacher we have encountered!! We are anxiously looking forward to your next class in SKYMARK 2.......soooon !

Meanwhile take care and enjoy the sunny south !

Pamela----When I decided to ask for your assistance regarding my recent computer problem, it was a very good one. Your recommended solution was prompt, appropriate, easy to implement with your step by step instructions, effective, and best of all, it cost me nothing. As you know I was contemplating somewhat costly alternatives, which given my limited use of my computer, would have been wasteful. For someone with scant computer literacy, the knowledge that you had nothing to gain other than the satisfaction of helping someone who needed it, was a significant confidence builder and encouraged me to accept your advice.

No doubt mine is only one example of your sharing your knowledge and expertise with those who may feel intimidated by the complexities of this amazing thing called a computer. That your help is so easily and freely available is not only appreciated, it is needed more than you can imagine.

Once again, thank you and keep up the good work.

Hi Pamela,

I don't think even words can describe, how grateful I am for everything you have taught me.

This is from a girl, who knew absolutely nothing about computers, only how to play a game of Scrabble. I was always intimidated by computers.

Through your kindness and your incredible patience, I have accumulated so much knowledge, that I don't feel so intimidated, and feel comfortable to use the computer.

I am aware I still have a lot to learn, but I hope that my current knowledge will lead me to a successful business venture.

Thank you again for everything Dasha.

To Pamela,

Thank you so much for what you have done for our computer problems.   I don't know what I would have done without you. You were sent from heaven.

Please Pamela put this in your testimonials .  Eventhough, I have had  my  computer for almost 3 years I am still very new to the functions because I have very limited time to study them. When I do study the concepts, sometimes I understand them and sometimes I find everything very intimidating and confusing ( and no, I am not a senior--the seniors probably have an easier time understanding than me). I want people to know that Pamela is there to help and she does not make people feel stupid or ashamed if they don't understand a concept. She has great patience in explaining. I now feel a little less intimidated and I am not so embarrassed about my lack of knowledge.

Thank you Pamela for making me feel more confident.

Dear Pamela.

I have had the privilege over the last 3 months to attend your computer classes which I find to be most informative. The classes are conducted in a very informal manner and you make it very easy for those in attendance to ask questions without feeling embarased. I am extremely impressed by the way you handle questions by e-mail. Your responses are accurate and usually very quick. On one of the problems I was having, your response to me led me step by step to solving it. I want to take this opportunity to thank you.

Thank You

Pamela has my unlimited admiration and respect.
She presents her god given teaching talent with poise and her thorough knowledge of computing with ease.
We, who are her senior students have a chance through her to acquire, as much as we are able to, the science of computing.
The information technology is "on the top of the world" and we are fortunate to learn from such a knowledgeable, devoted and disciplined teacher.
I must bow before her modesty, kindness and patience.
I am greatly sorry, that she shares also her working year with Florida.
I am positive, that I am interpreting the Skymark's group in Toronto the same opinion.

Dear Pamela,

Here I am eighty-two years of age and, until now, have never had the experience (and pleasure) of ever selling a personal item.

When our friend, Mort Mazor, told me about eBay and of your expertise in the field, naturally, I took advantage of it.
I cannot express the pleasure and admiration I developed for you personally and your exceptional ability to make a sale.

You know how much we loved owning the Carcassi violin so you can imagine our sadness in selling it, indicating an end of an era in our lives.
Your efforts and determination in completing the sale of this valuable instrument amazed me and filled me with great respect.

So again, many thanks. I hope that we will remain friends for a long time to come,

Sincerely,

Shirley Weiss

Both Jack and I send our love to Ernest.

Dear Pam:

I want to let you - and everyone else - know how marvelous your methods of teaching have been for me.  Many people who describe themselves as computer tutors or teachers leave a lot to be desired for the student who feels vulnerable and ignorant. You never make any of us feel that way.  You are a gem in every way, but particularly when teaching novices or even "advanced players" and are to be commended.

I can't wait to begin work on eBay with you.

Warmest regards, Carol Raspler, Delray Beach, Florida

Dear Pamela,

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the marvelous job you did in re-structuring my computer when it went blank.  Also your many rescues when I could not fathom the complications of cyberspace.  You really are a gem!
Good luck with your COMPUTER TUTOR.
